HOME: About Us
OVERVIEW
The St. Anthony’s College, as part of its response to the needs of the larger community, had commissioned a team of internal and external professional consultants to study the viability of putting up a Medical Center fully equipped with modern and state-of-the-art facilities and equipment that can provide medical cares comparable with the US standard. The Center shall be named: ANTIQUE MEDICAL CENTER.
The Center is a positive response to the overwhelming need/demand for medical services in the province of Antique. The present occupancy rate of the only secondary hospital in the province, the Angel Salazar Provincial General Hospital, is at an average of 135% in 2006 and 154% in the first 8 months of 2007.
Based on the policy standard of the Department of Health, the ratio of hospital beds to population is 1:300 which means that for every 300 persons there should be one hospital bed. With this standard, the ideal number of beds for the Province of Antique, referring to the NSO survey, is approximately 1,800 beds. However, there are only 280 actual beds in hospital facilities existing in the province. This simply means that the province of Antique has unfilled demand for health care services.
The Center will cater to medical needs of people of all walks of life. It will assemble competent medical professionals and practitioners, and provide employment to more than 200 employees who have competencies in their respective fields. It will provide the same medical services and care available in the best health institutions in Iloilo and Manila. The hospital will be operated in the principle of delivering quality service with a heart giving its clients full satisfaction in the process.
